Edenpark’s Rhema on the Top 10 Idols stage
Rhema Varrie from Edenpark has reached the top ten in the Idols SA competition and the whole of Edenpark and the south of Johannesburg support him.
EDEN PARK – Rhema Varrie from Edenpark has made it to the top ten in the IdolsSA competition and the whole community is delighted.
Speaking to dad Larry, mom Stellouise, his brother Larry Jr and his five-year-old sister Haddessah, it is clear that the family’s life has already changed quite a bit since the beginning of the Idols season.
“Random people just start screaming in shopping centres when they see Rhema and everyone wants to have their photos taken with him” says Larry.

Part of Rhema’s success is the ambiance he creates when he sings.
“Quite a few people say that they cry when they watch Rhema sing, it touches them and they root for him because of it. This is what he was born to do” says Larry.
Rhema has been living in the Idols house in Randburg for a month now and he enjoys it.
“He loves to be with people, but he still misses home,” said Stellouise.
The family has met the other top 16 contestants and say they are all down to earth people. Thami, who was in the top 16, has adopted the Varrie family as his own after they showed him kindness and support.

Larry Jr, who has started a band playing mostly jazz, says he would be over the moon if his brother won.
“It is his dream, he wants this and I want what is best for him. In my eyes he is already a winner and he makes me proud.”
