Man killed following domestic violence incident

Domestic violence left a husband dead and a wife in hospital, in Klipfontein, on August 6.

TEMBISA – The body of the man was lying in the doorway of his garage door, in Kipfontein, when police arrived, The Tembisan reported.

According to the SAPS spokesperson on the scene, Const Jacob Nhlongo, the wife was rushed to hospital.

Const Nhlongo said the incident may have happened at 18h00, following reports of domestic violence made by neighbours to the police.

Const Nhlongo said the police don’t have full information of what transpired, as the wife is already in hospital.

It is alleged that the woman, who is a nurse, was preparing to go to work at the time, but it is not clear what triggered the fight.

Const Nhlongo confirmed that two knives were discovered, one was next to the deceased and the other outside, beside the kitchen door.

“We are encouraging the community to seek help when there’s domestic violence; they must consult with social workers or come to the police and we will refer them”, said Const Nlongo.

He added that a case of murder and a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm will be opened.
