According to a police report, the children had a nasty shock when they noticed the baby while playing.
The suspicious little ones then notified the elders who upon investigation discovered that it was indeed a newborn.
The matter was reported to the police.
Paramedics were also dispatched to the dump site and they certified the baby dead at the scene.
The Boksburg police are now investigating a case of concealment of birth, and they are hoping to trace the child’s mother, who they believe lives in the informal settlement.
Anyone who knows a woman who had been pregnant, but now has no child and is no longer pregnant, is asked to contact the Boksburg police on 011 841 6858.
