Ten Ezenkosi men marched into Round of 32 draw

Ten Jomo Cosmos (Ezenkosi) men marched on to the next stages of the Nedbank Cup after they defeated Real Kings FC 2-0 at the Vosloorus Stadium on December 2.

One goal in each half booked Ezenkosi a much-needed place in the Round of 32 competition.

This means Ezenkosi, who reached the quarter-finals of the same competition in 2016-2017, will join 16 other Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams and eight teams from the ABC Motsepe League for the Round of 32 draw.

Ezenkosi suffered a huge blow as the referee on the day gave Kizito Obi a marching order after a second bookable offence just before the half-hour mark.

Despite their disadvantage, Cosmos managed to win.

This was a follow-up win against the same team whom Ezenkosi defeated 2-1 recently in a National First Division (NFD) encounter at the same venue.

Charlton Mashumba shot the opening goal after 41 minutes when he crossed by Vusimuzi Mncube to score his fifth goal of the season.

After 74 minutes of play, Cosmos doubled their lead with a well-taken penalty by Chibuike Ohizu after midfielder Tebogo Mabula was brought down inside the box by Sihle Mtshali.

Cizah Bukhali, Cosmos’ number one fan, was so excited about the win. He wishes that his team could draw one of the clubs who play in the PSL.

“I wish Cosmos can draw one of the PSL teams come the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 draw, so that we can rate our readiness to compete in South Africa’s elite league. There is still a chance that we compete against the best teams in the PSL next season,” said Bukhali after the game.
