Vaal celebrates Kings of Flava

Soweto Gold Superior Golden Lager crowned its first Kings of Flava Yase Kasi in the Vaal on May 19.

The five-a-side tournament kicked off at the Sedibeng Stadium in the Vaal and was headed by local soccer legend Aaron “Mbazo” Mokoena.

Sixteen teams, including teams from the Kathorus area, took part in this prestigious tournament but only one was crowned the Kings of Flava Yase Kasi.

Crowd favourites Snake Park FC and Miami FC saw each other at the finals, but Miami FC had the upper hand as they defeated the Snake Park FC and walked away with R10 000 cheque in hand.

Linda Radebe, the Soweto Gold PR and social media manager, congratulated the winners.

“They have been the crowd favourites from the word go and they displayed wonderful football on the day. We hope that the teams in the other townships will do the same and please the soccer lovers by displaying football that is full of Kasi Flava,” said Radebe.

He also said: “As the five-a-side tournaments move across Gauteng to different townships – in Tembisa, Mamelodi, Ga-Rankuwa, Katlehong, Alexandra and Soweto – we invite all brothers to show their skills and stand the chance of seeing their teams being crowned the Kings of Kasi Flava.”

Radebe added that they are making each tournament bigger and better and are celebrating the best of Flava Yase Kasi in each township.

The next tournament will kick off in Tembisa on May 26.

The tournament dates have been changed and the new dates will be announced within the week.
