Bring your flavour to the Kasi Flava tournaments

They invite all brothers to show their skills and stand the chance of being crowned the Kings of Kasi Flava.

The five-a-side tournaments will take place in the Vaal, Tembisa, Mamelodi, Ga-Rankuwa, Katlehong, Alexandra and Soweto.

According to Bianca Garbella, the Soweto Gold PR account director: “Each tournament will crown a winning team – the ‘Kings of Kasi’ – with each tournament winning team taking home R10 000.”

Born in South Africa’s townships, Kasi Flava is a dynamic football style of its own – encouraging freedom of expression that encompasses skills and tricks along with a strong dash of showmanship.

“Local soccer legends for each region will be on-hand to assist the teams in showing off their best Kasi skills – chosen not only for their impressive careers but also for their commitment to nurturing and guiding their younger up-and-coming brothers,” said Garbella.

Participating legends are Jerry ‘Legs of Thunder’ Skhosana representing Tembisa, Daniel ‘Mambush’ Mudau representing Mamelodi, Maimane Phiri representing Alexandra, Lucky Lekgwathi representing Ga-Rankuwa, Jabulani Mendu representing Katlehong, Aaron Mokoena representing the Vaal, and Shakes Gwabeni representing Soweto.

Garbella added that Doctor Khumalo, Soweto Gold Superior Golden Lager’s brand ambassador, will be on-hand and actively involved in the Kasi Flava tournaments.

“Soccer is not just a sport, it’s a brotherhood and Soweto Gold invites all brothers to bring the #Soweto Gold spirit while they provide the flavour,” said Garbella. “The first tournament will kick off on May 12 in Tembisa and will continue until July.
