Cosmos qualifies for play-offs

Jomo Cosmos (Ezenkosi) beat Super Eagles 3-2 on April 29 at the Vosloorus Stadium and booked themselves a spot in the National First Division (NFD) playoffs.

The win puts Ezenkosi in the second position on the log standings with 49 points after 29 games played. They are 17 points behind the log leaders Highlands Park who are on 66 points after the same number of games.

Ezenkosi will play their last game of the season away from home against Black Leopards who are two (47) points behind after the same number of games. Leopards are in position three.

This is how the Cosmos family reacted after the historic win at Vosloorus Stadium.

Thato Lingwati (captain)

He said he is happy for the players and family at large.

“We worked very hard as players and we had to push each other to achieve this. After some of the players left the team, we had to regroup and try to find a winning formula. It took us a while to find it but because we had meetings as players where we discussed regaining form, we ended up achieving all this,” said Lingwati.

Siza Bukhali (Cosmos number one fan)

He said he is on top of the moon.

“There were times when we lost our best players to Chippa United who are playing in the PSL. At the time it was not good to lose such players but it was good for the team financially. The team lost its momentum but we kept on supporting the team until it regained its momentum. We will continue supporting the team through the play-off and to the PSL if we get a promotion. Congratulations to the boys for making us proud,” said Bukhali.

He urged all the supporters to be behind the team as it is at the stage where it needs supporters the most.

Wiseman Langa (Cosmos community liaison officer)

Like everybody, Langa said they are happy as the family especially that they are standing a good chance of being promoted to the PSL.

“This will not only benefit the team but the community will benefit as well in terms of development. Business people from the township will benefit when big teams come to Vosloorus,” said Langa.

Alex Mokhele Cosmos loyal supporter

He said they want to fish the season in style.

“The fact that we have qualified for play-offs does not mean we have to make light of the game against the Black Leopards. We have to beat them at their home ground,” said Mokhele.

He thanked the players for soldiering up and regrouping until they qualified for play-offs.
