Maziya’s return puts Cosmos back in promotion hunt

Silas “Shorty” Maziya’s return from injury will boost Jomo Cosmos’ (Ezenkosi’s) chances of getting promoted to the PSL.

The game against Ubuntu Cape Town on Sunday, March 18, was the attacking midfielder’s return game since he got injured during the game against Tuks FC on February 3 in Pretoria.

Despite the lack of fitness, Maziya was thrilled to return to action and about his contribution to his team’s 3-1 win over Ubuntu Cape Town.

“It feels good to be back in action again after I spent six weeks without playing any competitive game,” said Maziya, who was introduced with 20 minutes of the game left to go.

He said he is still lacking fitness.

“I am working hard to gain my fitness level back. With more game time to come and hard work from training I should return to my fitness soon,” said Maziya.

Ezenkosi are in fourth position with 36 points after 24 games and still stand a good chance of qualifying for play-offs.

They are two points behind the second-placed Black Leopard FC and third-placed Real Kings FC, who share the spoils with 38 points.

The three goals for Ezenkosi were scored by Scelo Mkhize, Clifford Mulenga and Teboho Tlolane, while the only goal for the visitors was netted by Duncan Adonis.
