Artist speaks to learners about the dangers of drugs

The campaign went viral on social media and the internet and a lot of learners seemed to love what he is doing for the community.

Clement Mulenga is an upcoming and multi-talented singer, songwriter, rapper and producer. Born in Germiston, Mulenga has been conducting his famous anti-drug campaign in different schools in Katlehong recently.

His campaign #SayNoToDrugs that he has been conducting at local high schools has made Mulenga popular to the community and among learners from around Katlehong.

Recently he has been to Mpontsheng, Thukhuthabo, Ponego, Lethukuthula, Fumana and Alafang secondary schools, where he used his campaign to educate learners about the dangers of using drugs. At all the schools where he has conducted the campaign, he has received a warm welcome.

Mulenga, who is famously known as Moolanair in the music industry, believes there is more the youth can do. He said the youth has so much potential, but that potential is being dimmed by their attempts to live the fake lifestyle portrayed on TV.

“We know that drugs have been affecting the learners in schools and we are trying to change that. It’s better if the message is coming from someone they can relate to. As an artist, I know that I can influence the youth,” said Mulenga.

He said as he went to schools he learnt that the youth have been brainwashed into believing that doing drugs is cool.

“As an influencer, I am trying to change that mentality.”

Mulenga said they are trying to get rehabilitation centre counsellors to join his campaign.

“I would like them to come with us to schools and educate the learners on the disadvantages of taking drugs and how to deal with peer pressure. And also, shed some light on drug addicts,” said Mulenga.
