Mboro’s urgent bail postponed

Mboro defied legal advice in court, addressing new evidence in his assault case as supporters demanded his release.

Self-proclaimed prophet Paseka ‘Mboro’ Motsoeneng failed to heed his lawyer’s advice and spoke to the media about new evidence regarding his current assault case while he was in the dock at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on September 2.

The court postponed the urgent bail application to September 9 after the State advocate Pheello Vilakazi mentioned he was not aware of the urgent bail application and that he had only found out about it that morning before the court sitting.

However, Motsoeneng’s lawyer Phillip Dhlamini accused Vilakazi of purposefully delaying the urgent bail application with new evidence, because he has a personal vendetta against his client (Motsoeneng).

Motsoeneng was arrested on August 5 after he was seen in various videos circulating on social media platforms wielding pangas while his bodyguard Clement Baloyi had a heavy calibre rifle, both intimidating learners and teachers in Matsediso Primary School while Motsoeneng’s son was dragging out two learners at school.

An agitated Motsoeneng defied his lawyers’ advice to remain silent and spoke to the media while in the dock.

Visibly angry and annoyed, he started shouting at his lawyers, telling them to leave him alone (No, ntlogeleng lona).

He said his life is affected, and he doesn’t care anymore.

“I trust God now. God is good and the truth will always prevail. I am punished because I am popular. I am not treated fairly here. I have done a lot for this community. This is not a matter of a nation fighting Mboro,” Motsoeneng explained.

He added God has done wonders for him in prison because many people have given up drugs.

“There is a lot that’s happening here. There are also counter-cases against me, and I have been waiting in the dock for a long time. I am leaving everything to God,” he concluded.

The renowned pastor’s ardent congregants and supporters picketed outside the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, demanding his release.
