Three illegal firearms removed from Vosloorus streets

“The three firearms that were seized include a pistol Berretta, Blou and Norinco and 34 ammunition.”

Police operations yielded positive results following the arrest of 461 suspects for various crimes between October 14 and 15.

The suspects were arrested by Saps and other law enforcers in various parts of Ekurhuleni including a major one in Tokoza Tokoza where at least 17 suspects were arrested.

Acceding to the Ekurhuleni District communication officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela, four suspects were arrested for drunk driving, one for dealing in drugs, eight for possession of drugs, four for dealing in liquor without a license and four J534 fines to the value of R6 000 were issued to motorists.

Alcohol was confiscated from liquor outlets operating without a license.

Others were nabbed during normal police routine duties.

Suspects were also arrested for suspected drugs, discharging a firearm in a public place, possession of dagga, possession of drugs, shoplifting, reckless and negligent driving, murder, dealing in liquor without a licence, child neglect, sexual assault, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and possession of stolen vehicles.

There were also crimes of tampering with essential infrastructure, theft of motor vehicles, assault GBH, culpable homicide, drunk and driving, kidnapping, murder and business robbery, dealing in drugs, house break-in and theft, malicious damage to property, possession of a hijacked vehicle, robbery and resisting arrest.

Three pistols including a Berretta, Blou and Norinco were seized by police at Vosloorus.

Sekgobela said members of Vosloorus managed to arrest three suspects for possessing of three unlicensed firearms while raiding taverns on the night of October 15 in Vosloorus Extension 28.

At least 34 pieces of ammunition were seized at Vosloorus.

“The three firearms that were seized include a pistol Berretta, Blou and Norinco and 34 ammunition,” said Sekgobela.

The Ekurhuleni District commissioner Major General Anna Sithole applauded the law enforcers for their efforts.

Police confiscated dagga during the high-density operation.
