K1 Phoenix dominate annual New Youth Netball Showdown

The initiative received support from the sister foundation, Ntsik and TDF Tour De Frontline as well as The Teddy Bear Foundation and Kasi Angels.

K1 Phonenix Netball Club approached the New Youth Netball Showdown (NYNS) tournament at Sikhosana Netball Court, Katlehong, with commitment and determination to claim the tournament title on June 25.

According to the founder of The Flo Foundation (TFF) and the tournament organizer Thabo ‘Flo’ Mokale, the annual NYNS is designed with the hope of keeping children more interested in physical activities and time away from their phones.

The initiative received support from sister foundations, Ntsik and TDF Tour De Frontline as well as The Teddy Bear Foundation, Kasi Angels, Ekhuruleni local sports department, Khotso’s Tuckshop, Lejone Projects, Skeem GP, Freeman Brotherhood Movement and African Accent.

Mokale described the event as a ‘carnival of netball’ as teams were dressed in their colours, and each team had a gazebo, water bottles and prizes.

Final tournament result

K1 Phoenix NC crowned champions of the New Youth Netball Showdown 2022, at Skhosana Netball Court, Katlehong, on June 25.

In the U13 division K1 Phoenix NC took first place after knocking Tamaho Primary School Netball Club 34 – 4 in the final.

K1 Phoenix NC continued with their winning momentum in the U16 division where they won 27 – 0 against Mandela NC.

They concluded their winning strike after crushing Tamaho PS NC in the exhibition match.

• Best mid-player, Lwandle ‘Cricket’ Qakoza from K1 Phoenix NC.

• Best attacker, Kamohelo Maleke from Amatrompies NC.

• Best defender, Sinoluthu Pukwana from Mandela NC.

• Overall player, Sinothando Gunundu from Mandela NC.

Tamaho Primary NC.

• Best defender, Philasande ‘BiG Gurl’ Mkhwe from K1 Phoenix NC.

• Best attacker, Lwando Tylana from K1 Phoenix NC.

• Best mid court player, Ratanang Mabutyane from K1 Phoenix NC.

• Overall player, Naledi Violet Tumisi from K1 Phoenix NC.
