CGL players assist with hampers to donate to the needy

CGL supports the needy.

In partnership with the NPO, FeedSA, the Central Gauteng Lions enjoyed a Do Good Day on July 30, providing some relief and assistance to communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the second last day of Mandela Month in July, the players, staff, coaches, umpires and ground staff packed 2 500 personal hygiene/sanitation hampers to distribute to schools and vulnerable communities in the informal settlements.

FeedSA’s Roxy Priebatsch said, “We are thrilled to partner this year again with Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) to pack and distribute these hampers in honour of Mandela Month. It was an incredible day filled with lots of hard work and dedication and we are extremely grateful to all who participated.”

Themed Give the gift of human dignity this Mandela Month, the hampers cost R100 and included sanitiser, masks, Safeguard body wash, antibacterial soap bar, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary pad, body lotion and Zambuk.

Wanele Mngomezulu, CGL’s marketing and communications manager said, “The last 18 months or so have been a horrible time for thousands, which is why my heart is warmed at the sights seen today.

Our players, coaches, staff and everyone packing for families in absolute need right now. And to FeedSA for an outstanding job, it was our honour to partner with you on a job well done today. The day was also used to celebrate International Friendship Day, a movement that started in 1930 to bring people together.”
