Giving back to the community

A successful outreach to the residents of the Thinasonke informal settlement.

Brackendowns CPF and Brackendowns SAPS recently held a fund-raiser where they collected much-needed items for the residents of the Thinasonke informal settlement in Phola Park near Alberton.

On June 5 organisers and volunteers went out to hand out blankets, shoes, clothes, sweets, children toys and dog food.

“It was so amazing to bless the residents with these donations,” said Brackendowns CPF chairperson Geoff Steyn.
According to him, it is the CPF’s passion to help the community.

“We are a NPO who wants to give back and protect the community. We want to make a difference and be supportive, but also protect the community,” he said.

“Especially in times like these we want to be there for the community and reach out. It is all about protecting, uplifting and educating the community.”

WO Gerhard Cornelius from Brackendowns SAPS said it was an honour to join these amazing groups of people in the fight against crime.

Brackendowns SAPS VEC also handed out pamphlets and leaflets on gender-based violence and crime safety tips.
