Operation Okae Molao leads to various arrests in Katlehong

On January 7, the police arrested law offenders around Katlehong for various crimes.

On January 7, The Ekurhuleni East district police members and other law-enforcement agencies embarked on an Okae Molao operation around Katlehong.

According to Katlehong South SAPS spokesperson Capt Mega Ndobe, the stop-and-search conducted during patrols resulted in the arrests for robbery among other crimes.

Four suspects were arrested for robbery, while two others were arrested for assault with the intent to inflict bodily harm.

In a separate incident, a suspect was found transporting liquor and was arrested for contravening the Disaster Management Act under the level three lockdown.

Ndobe confirmed that dozens of alcohol were confiscated by the police.

“During the operation, roadblocks were conducted along certain roads which resulted in two motor vehicles found unroadworthy and 40 traffic fines at the value of R11 700 issued to motorists,” said Ndobe.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court. The operation for a safer festive season continues until the end of January.
