“All proceeds will go towards our feeding schemes and helping the Thina Sonke community."

Community members showed up in great numbers to support Animal Protection Network (APN) on September 26 in Brackenhurst.

As part of their fund-raiser, they treated the community to mouth-watering meals ranging from boerewors rolls to cakes, as well as pet toys.

APN also offered a platform to car fanatics with a car display of gleaming Volkswagen Beetles dating back to the ’90s.

Working closely with Alberton SPCA, JustOneThing365 and other local veterinary clinics, funds raised will be donated towards underprivileged furry friends.

APN has been involved in many outreach projects. Despina Kandralidis of APN said the event was aimed at making a difference to underprivileged animals.

“All proceeds will go towards our feeding schemes and helping the Thina Sonke community. It’s also about raising community spirits and having fun and socialising. The cars were from a personal collection which helped to attract community members,” she said.

Kandralidis also said funds will be used towards supporting and caring for stray pets.
