Mamelodi Sundowns FC enjoys training sessions at Waterstone College

Many South Africans are cheering as Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club recently secured their 10th title win, usurping log leaders Kaizer Chiefs at the last game.

Leading up to the end of the 2019/20 league season in the biologically safe environment (BSE) bubble, Mamelodi Sundowns selected Waterstone College as their preferred local training ground, making use of the school’s state-of-the-art Fifa field. Last week saw the team gather at the school once again for a post-win training session, after which they went on to play in another cup final over the weekend.

They won the Nedbank Cup, the third trophy for them to win this season. Waterstone College, a school managed by Curro Holdings, is exceptionally proud of its international standard sports field, which was even used for practice by the national Mexican team during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Throughout the training sessions at the school, health and safety remained paramount for everyone involved, as stringent Covid-19 protocols were observed.
