EMM warns residents about job scam

The City urges individuals to be very vigilant.

The City of Ekurhuleni warns the public to be aware of a job advertisement scam that is circulating online purporting to be from the City.

“The job advertisement lists many jobs, ranging from security officers, general workers to technicians. The job advertisement lures the unsuspecting public to contact a certain Mr Makua for application details,” said Themba Gadebe, EMM spokesperson.

The City warns all job seekers who would like to apply for the City’s job vacancies that jobs are advertised on the City’s website (www.ekurhuleni.gov.za) and the applications are also done online through the same website.
Job seekers are advised that no form of payment is done for the City’s recruitment process.

The City urges individuals to be very vigilant and to verify information on the website: www.ekurhuleni.gov.za. Report fraud and corruption on 0800 102 201.

For more information, media may contact Spokesperson Themba Gadebe on 011 999 1522/064 230 6559 or themba.gadebe@ekurhuleni.gov.za
