Ten-year imprisonment for business break-in

The docket was placed in court and on July 20, all three suspects were sentenced to 10 years' direct imprisonment.

On May 2 last year at 8.30 pm, the complainant locked up his business premises in Booysens and went home.

On May 4, 2019, at 9.30 pm the complainant received a call from the manager of the premises saying that three suspects have been caught stealing.

When he arrived at the premises he noticed that there were solar panels removed from the roof and lying on the floor. Video footage was viewed and it was confirmed that the three suspects had removed the panels.
Sgt Lesetja Matlou and Const Mmakwena Maleke were on the scene, arrested the suspects and brought them to Booysens Police Station where they were charged for business break-in.

The docket was given to WO Fanie van Staden to investigate. As the suspects had already been arrested by members from Crime Prevention, all that was needed was an outstanding statement.

The docket was placed in court and on July 20, all three suspects were sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment.
The management of Booysens SAPS wishes to thank van Staden, Matlou, and Mmakwena Maleke in obtaining this successful conviction.
