Venom Z Worx, Glenvista car club put their wheels in motion for Door of Hope

“When I gathered my friends to form this car club it was not for a fashionable thing."

Venom Z Worx, a Glenvista car club, put their wheels in motion for Door of Hope on Mandela Day.

Founder of the club Ahmed Nagdee said they decided to show support for a local charity, and with 51 cars in line, the drive for Door of Hope was organised.

“We wanted to donate a number of things, like food, cleaning material and toys, and it was a truly amazing thing to be part of,” Ahmed said.

This sparked the thought of many more drives to come to reach out to charity and charitable causes.

“Anyone who wants to help with what we do can join us and take care of the people in our community. There is no joining fee.”

The club started the initiative to help organisations that struggle and to spread some good in the community five years ago. Ahmed said he remembers always loving cars, even from a very young age.  Once his dream of owning a car came true, he decided to form a car club named Venom Z Worx that will aim to help communities who are in need.

“When I gathered my friends to form this club it was not for the sake of belonging to something fashionable. We wanted it to become a cause for charity where we will save funds to give to any organisation in need,” he said.

Starting up the engines does not mean speeding and being irresponsible drivers though.

“We are committed that every run is based on charity events. We don’t speed or do funny things on the roads, we rather want to bring about a positive mindset of charities being taken care of. Ahmed said the pandemic has affected a large number of people, where some have lost hope.

“We all agree that this pandemic has caused a lot of pain and suffering across the country. Companies had to retrench employees, some companies are on hold for operation and some have closed their doors.  “We aim to be positive and donate where we can to the people and organisations in need as much as we can,” Ahmed said.

“Anyone who wants to help with what we do can easily join us and take care of the people in our community.”
