GALLERY: Brackenhurst Veterinary Clinic sterilises 67 furry friends for Mandela Day

"Thank you to our fantastic staff and our wel-energised vets for a job well done. We are proud of you for always doing more than what is expected," said Kelly Rae, practice manager.

The staff at Brackenhurst Veterinary Hospital are no strangers to reaching out and assisting in the community.

In honour of Nelson Mandela Day, Brackenhurst Veterinary Hospital, in conjunction with Southside Sterilisation Assistance Project, took it upon themselves to sterilise 67 dogs and cats from the Jacksons Drift informal settlement.

They did this with the help of Rene Parker, director of Cause 4 Paws, and her Paw Rangers.

There has been a significant amount of litters in the Jackson Drift informal settlement and the latest figures available from Rene indicated at least 17 new litters she knew of.

When Brackenhurst Veterinary Hospital heard this they knew they needed to step in and help, so they decided for Mandela Month they would dedicate their time to sterilise 67 dogs and cats and each animal was sent home with a bag of food and blanket.

Brackenhurst Vet would like to thank everyone who contributed towards this wonderful initiative.

“Thank you to our fantastic staff and our well-energised vets for a job well done. We are proud of you for always doing more than what is expected,” said Kelly Rae, practice manager.
