Mbhoro infuriates listeners with his behaviour
Scores of Kathorus residents who listened to Radio 702 last Thursday and heard the leader of Incredible Happenings Ministries CC, Pastor Paseka “Mbhoro” Motsoeneng, unleash a barrage of expletives during a live radio interview, have voiced their displeasure with what they say was “unbecoming” behaviour by someone who professes to be a man of God.
The radio interview was the result of a long-drawn altercation between the controversial preacher and the chairperson of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL), Thokoza Mkhwanazi-Xaluva.
During an intense grilling by the chairperson about his church’s financial management and general audit, Mbhoro refused to submit his financial statements and denied public accusations of misconduct committed by him against his congregants.
Instead, he accused the commission of trying to expose him to his enemies.
“I have a lot of enemies who are jealous of the good work I do,” he claimed, listing a series of charitable activities he told the commission, his Incredible Happenings Church was involved in, especially among the poor.Mbhoro told the commission that he has built homes for the indigent and homeless pensioners with money donated to his church by his followers.
However, he denied that Incredible Happenings is a registered church and told the commission that it was registered as a close corporation.
He went on to lash out at accusations of touching women congregants improperly during prayer services.
“I will never insert my finger in the rotten v*****,” he said when he was asked about the alleged abuse of women in his church.
He again accused Mkhwanazi-Xaluva of giving his unknown enemies a reason to kill him.
Mbhoro previously accused Mkhwanazi-Xaluva of setting him up to be killed.
During the CRL hearings held in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, many of the religious leaders summoned by the commission, including Motsoeneng, rejected the demands by the CRL to submit their bank financial statements for scrutiny and instead they accused the commission of embarking on a witch-hunt.
Residents approached for comment by Kathorus MAIL, refused to pose for photographs but lashed out at Mbhoro’s conduct on the airwaves.
“This is not the first time this man, Mbhoro, has been rude on radio,” said Nkosana Sokhule of Vosloorus, recalling another fracas on the local Kathorus community radio station between Mbhoro and a local undertaker.
“Just like his comments on 702, he also swore at his rival live on Kasie FM,” Sokhule recalled.
Rosina Mokete, a 38-year-old Marimba housewife and mother of three, described how disgusted she was by the controversial preacher’s live insults on Radio 702.
“I think he just wants to be left alone as he does not see the importance of complying with the authorities about these issues,” Mokete said.
Businessman Abdul Billah, who runs a cellphone repair shop in Alberton, believes Mbhoro will only make his woes worse by refusing to collaborate with the commission.
“There’s only one way left for him now, comply or face a prison term,” explained Billah.
Mbhoro has also been urged by Mkhwanazi-Xaluva to submit to the commission or face the prospect of facing a jail term for non-compliance.
