Stream E Athletics Championship a great success

Stream E Athletics Championship Selection games were held at the Huntersfield Stadium on February 7.

Seven primary schools took part in this year’s prestigious tournament. They included Lungisani, Chivirikani, Kwanele, Sonqoba, Vumbeni and Katlehong South.

The schools competed in the long jump, high jump, shot put as well as in the track events in the 60m, 80m, 100m, 150m and 200m distances.

Rose Nkosi, tournament director, said the tournament was a success.

“Even though one of the schools from the stream did not take part in this event because it is undergoing renovation, I still believe those schools who took part made the tournament to be a success,” Nkosi said.

Ntombifuthi Ndhlandhla, field referee and chairperson for Stream E schools, said the purpose of the tournament was to select a strong team to compete against streams D and F on February 19 at the same venue.

“The purpose of the competition on February 19 is to form a Greater Germiston team to compete against other schools around Boksburg at Boksburg Stadium on February 25,” said Ndhlandhla.
