How to replace your lost Sassa card

Beneficiaries urged to collect their temporary identity if Sassa card is lost.

THE South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is pleased to announce an increase in the number of people switching to, or choosing the new Sassa card, as an option for payment of their social grants when using their payment cards.

Sassa encourages some of its beneficiaries, who lost their cards and identity documents (ID) to report the matter to the nearest Department of Home Affairs for a temporary ID.

Nandi Mosia, Sassa Gauteng spokesperson, said, “After attainment of such, beneficiaries will then visit Sassa with the temporary ID and a sworn statement form SAPS indicating the loss of the card.

“The first lost card will be replaced free, but thereafter a replacement fee of R26 will be instituted and will be deducted from their grant money.

“Replacement of a lost or stolen card can be done at any Sassa office nearest to you,” said Mosia.

All beneficiaries are requested to keep their cards and pin safely.

Beneficiaries can report any problems they may encounter to their nearest Sassa office.
