Media artists empowered by Film Connect

"We were able to empower a couple of people who attended the event with knowledge they could use in the future."

FILM Connect, in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni, brought creatives together as they hosted a film and television dialogue on November 2 at the Alberton Civic Centre.

Film Connect gave emerging artists a platform to find out more information in the media industry, primarily in the film industry. The open discussion featured media artists varying from writers, content creators, video editors and photographers, among others. Burning issues of the day included how the artists could empower themselves in their line of work.

The event also consisted of a panel that addressed issues such as adapting in the film industry despite the Fourth Industrial Revolution coming into existence.

The auditorium was packed with different media artists.

Bongani Soko, founder of Sombuko Group and Film Connect, said the event had a great impact on those who attended.

“There’s a huge buzz about the Fourth Industrial Revolution, through this fourth annual event we raised awareness. We were able to empower a couple of people who attended the event with knowledge they could use in the future,” said Soko.
