Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and EMPD, hit the streets in several weekend operations.
The operations, held between September 13 and 15, led to the arrest of 20 suspects.
The accused were charged with several different offences.
Charges included:
• Common assault: 1
• Reckless and negligent driving: 1
• Contempt of court: 1
• Possession of drugs: 2
• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 15
Katlehong SAPS station commander Col Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests made, but was concerned by the number of motorists arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
