New bus service to ease congestion

The new Integrated Rapid Transport Public Transport Network bus system which will eventually link travellers from a number of terminus along its routes to destinations in different parts of Ekurhuleni is expected to ease transport congestion on the roads while making travelling more affordable and less stressful for commuters.

A section of the route of new bus network system will include a service for residents of Vosloorus which will link commuters from the township to Boksburg, OR Tambo Airport and Kempton Park.

Already, several kilometres of the completed tarred feeder road stretching from Mapleton, east of Vosloorus on the old Heidelberg Road, towards the west, is expected to ease the transport pressures currently being experienced by public transport commuters in the area.

According to the media spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Themba Gadebe, the IRPTN system is expected to be operational by the second or third quarter of 2016.
