The Vosloorus side is made up of young girls from Thuto-Lesedi, Lethulwazi, Fortune Kunene and PT Xulu Secondary schools.

The visitors lost the game. The score for the visiting team was 195 all out while the home team managed 91 for four.

Isaac Phele, VCGCT coach, said ESGCL is the initiative by Eastern Cricket aiming to encourage young girls who have a passion for cricket to become physically involved in the sport.

“Despite the loss, there are positive things we can be proud of going forward. This is our first game playing together as a team. We lost because our players do not know each other well. They need more time to train together as a team,” said Phele.

“We as coaches will use this game to learn more about the players’ weaknesses. We will go back to the drawing board to try to fix their mistakes.”
