Makoya Shandis treats elderly and orphans on Mandela Day

Makoya Shandis Car Wash and Shisanyama from Extension Two in Volsoorus celebrated Mandela Day with more than 200 elderly people and orphans from around Ekurhuleni.

According to Thabo Boshomane, the founder and owner of Makoya Shandis Car Wash and Shisanyama, the purpose of the Mandela Day Giving Back to the Community (as the event was named) was to entertain elderly people and orphans from all over Ekurhuleni.

“Our business might be based in Vosloorus, but I am aware that the community members who support us are from all over Ekurhuleni. What we have is because of the community who come in their numbers to enjoy themselves and spend their money here. So we had to give them something in return,” said Boshomane.

He said he believes bringing so many people together was the best idea.

“I believe going out and painting one or two houses was not one of the best ideas. Instead, we thought of bringing as many people as we can under one roof and entertain them. Most importantly, take them out of their houses, chill with them and give them love,” he said.
