Specifying real Audi, virtually

Audi Centre Centurion has added virtual reality to its Audi Customer Private Lounge.

The incorporation of VR technology into its Customer Private Lounge will not only allow Audi enthusiasts and customers to be presented with each model in the Audi fleet, but it also enables the user to specify their chosen model with the wide variety of interior and exterior options. This provides the user with a realistic representation of how their vehicle will look prior to committing to the order and or experience all options and colours available without it being represented on the dealership floor.

The presentation is made possible by a 75-inch display and a VR headset. The Audi configuration process is experienced in 3D in addition to the 360 degrees, night and day, virtual environments and comes with realistic lighting and audio effects to complete the experience. Not only is this virtual environment used in the specifying of new vehicles, but motorsport enthusiasts can also virtually experience the atmosphere of the Le Mans 24 hours race and even stand amongst pit crew and mechanics as the Audi prototype racer enters the pits.

“Digitalisation is a key part of Audi’s global corporate strategy, and the Customer Private Lounge is a great example of this, it’s a great opportunity to introduce this form of innovation and technology within the South African automotive industry and to have progressive dealer partners such as Audi Centre Centurion, who have presented a truly premium retail experience for Audi customers,” Trevor Hill, Head of Audi South Africa.

With more than 400 Audi Customer Private Lounges or digitalized consulting suites already in commission in Audi dealerships around the world, Audi South Africa plans to introduce the programme to dealerships around the country in the next coming years.
