While following up on a tip-off in the Makause informal settlement recently, Primrose police noticed a man acting suspiciously.
“The officers, who had just arrested a 28-year-old man on a charge of drug possession, stopped the man and searched him,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

During the search, police found a substance, believed to be nyaope, in the 33-year-old man’s possession.
“The accused allegedly confirmed the substance was nyaope and that he’d been smoking it,” said Maome.
He was arrested on a charge of drug possession and taken to the Primrose Police Station.
He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
