Man allegedly rapes ex-girlfriend

Primrose police arrested a 24-year-old on a charge of rape recently.

A 24-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police on a charge of rape.

The man is accused of raping his ex-girlfriend in the Makause informal settlement on March 1.

“When reporting the alleged rape to police the victim explained that she had been home when the suspect arrived and accused her of breaking in into his shack,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“He allegedly dragged her forcefully to his shack saying she must see what she had done.

“When they arrived, the accused reportedly pushed her into his shack, locked the door and ordered her to undress.

“When she refused he allegedly forcefully undressed her and raped her.”

The following morning the victim escaped the shack by breaking down the door and ran to her sister’s home.

Using the information given by the victim and following several leads officers traced and arrested the man.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
