ACTT’s opening and awards ceremony

Best performing learners in Grade 8 and Grade 12 were well-rewarded for their efforts.

Accountancy Community Through Tirisano (ACTT), an institution that offers extra lessons in maths, science and accounting to high school learners, held a ceremony to award outstanding performance of its students during the 2018 academic year.

The institution operates out of Mpontseng Secondary School in Katlehong on Saturdays. The ceremony was held at the same venue on January 13.

The event was also attended by current students and their parents. Learners from different high schools around Katlehong also attended the ceremony.

The institution’s sponsors, Unconditional Giving and Empowering Education (UGEF), were present and represented by the owners, Chandal and Kiran Mowjee.

Founder of the institution Enett Mokoena said the main aim of the ceremony was to recognise learners who showed dedication and exerted themselves to achieve good results in the 2018 matric results.

“This serves as a motivation to our current students and future students,” said Mokoena.

Mokoena believes the event was a success.

“Our main objective of taking learners away from streets and assist them to improve their academic performances was achieved as we witnessed our matric class of 2018 obtaining outstanding results,” Mokoena added.

Top achievers’ awards went to Amohelang Masego, Johnny Matlou and Sthembiso Makhubu, who all wrote their matric at Lethukuthula Secondary School. They were awarded gift vouchers, trophies and certificates. The best top 10 matric learners were rewarded with certificates and trophies.

“We at ACTT pride ourselves by contributing positively towards improving the quality of our learners’ results in our district and in the province in critical subjects such as accounting, mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences and economics,” said Mokoena.
