Cosmos beat Real Kings in NFD match

The score remained level at the end of the first half.

Jomo Cosmos FC (Ezenkosi) came back from a goal down to win their National First Division (NFD) encounter against Real Kings FC 2-1 at the Vosloorus Stadium on November 25.

The home side dictated the pace early on in search of the opening goal. But the visitors grabbed a shocking lead within 15 minutes of the game when Lindokuhle Mtshali scored a free kick.

However, Ezenkosi responded well as their quartet of Chibuike Ohizu, Silas Maziya, Seun Ledwaba, Junior Sono and Tebogo Mabula combined to give the visitors a much-needed threat.

Six minutes later, Charlton Mashumba converted a defence pass from Chibuike Ohizu to score his fourth goal of the season.

Both teams played good football as they kept their fans on the edge of their seats. The score should have been doubled for Ezenkosi but they missed a number of one-on-one opportunities with the keeper.

The score remained level at the end of the first half.

Ohizu paved his way past a couple of defenders to sneak a beautiful pass to Ledwaba who placed the ball beyond goalkeeper Langeni Gogo to make it 2-1 to Ezenkosi.

Sizah Bukhali, Cosmos number one supporter, thanked Ezenkosi supporters for their undying support.

“I would like to thank everyone who supported the team. The players are still new but as soon as they find their rhythm, the team will start producing good results again,” said Bukhali.

The win propelled Cosmos to 17 points in 12 matches, nine points behind the log leaders, Stellenbosch FC.

The visitors will on the weekend get a chance to get revenge as they play against Ezenkosi again in a Nedbank Cup qualifier at the same venue.
