Man arrested in Rondebult for possession of allegedly stolen motor vehicle

Ekurhuleni Flying Squad members tracked down a stolen vehicle and arrested a suspect.

While out doing patrols and attending to complaints on Thursday, at about 3pm, members of the Ekurhuleni Flying Squad received a tip-off regarding a vehicle.

They travelled to an open space in Maluti Street, Rondebult where they found a white Toyota Atios.

Const Levy Seemise and Const Luyanda Mkhonkothi noticed a man inside the vehicle who was allegedly looking for the vehicle’s tracking system.

“The officers approached the vehicle and the man jumped out and ran off,” said Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo, communications officer for the Ekurhuleni Flying Squad.

“Seemise and Mkhonkothi chased the suspect on foot and managed to catch him.”

After launching an investigation it was found that the vehicle had been stolen in Kempton Park.

A case of possession of a stolen motor vehicle was opened at the Elsburg Police Station.

The 29-year-old suspect will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
