Three killed in two separate crashes

Two bikers, alleged to be a couple, died after a head-on collision with a truck on Wit Deep Road in Boksburg on July 14 around 6pm.

William Ntladi, district manager and media liaison for Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), said a DEMS rescue team from the Primrose Fire Station received a call around 6pm and immediately responded to the scene to offer medical attention.

“On arrival, two lifeless bodies and a motorcycle were found lying on the road next to each other in front of an articulated truck,” said Ntladi.

He said the two adult patients succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead on scene by paramedics while the truck driver escaped with no injuries.

In a separate incident earlier, a rescue team from the same fire station responded to a scene on Johann Rissik Road in Primrose for a crash involving a minibus and a truck.

“On arrival, rescuers had to use Jaws of Life equipment to free trapped taxi passengers before rendering pre-hospital medical treatment,” said Ntladi.

He said an adult female patient was declared dead on scene.

“Four other passengers sustained serious injuries and the six others, including the drivers of both vehicles, sustained minor injuries,” added Ntladi.

All casualties were road transported to various medical facilities around the City of Ekurhuleni.

Ntladi added an inquest dockets were opened by local traffic officers for both incidents.
