Skills and career business expo held

A non-profit organisation, Dynamic Solution Foundation (DSF), organised a skills and career business expo at Vosloorus Civic Centre on February 8 to discuss issues related to inequality, poverty and unemployment.

Unemployed youth and local businessmen from the township were present to learn from different seaters including the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Employee Benefits Centre (EBC), Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) and Employment Development Department (EDD) that were invited to offer some skills development.

Xolani Tshonisile, the founder of DSF, said the purpose of the meeting was to gather unemployed youth and local businessmen together and equip them with some necessary skills that they might need in order to get employment.

“This is the first workshop that is going to change the lives of the people who attended it. We don’t want people who attended this expo to be the same again. Previously people were attending expos and benefit nothing from attending,” said Tshonisile.

He said to make sure that people benefit from the expo, they organised a special training that was going to be done after the expo.

This is how people are going to benefit from this expo. “One-stop centres will be opened around Ekurhuleni, supported by Nedbank and CCBSA Gauteng Region. People will be helped to register their companies, fill in tender documents and forms, and many other paperwork that most of the growing businessmen do not know how to fill out. They will be helped in those centres,” said Tshonisile. He said people who have no money to register their businesses will be helped to register companies for free. “This will help to save travelling expenses, as most of the people who are starting businesses are unemployed,” Tshonisile said.

He added that there will be entrepreneurship and project management courses that will be offered to help small business owners to understand the business.
