Katlehong police arrested a man (30)

On July 19, Katlehong SAPS arrested a 30-year-old man at Khumalo Section in Katlehong for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Communication official at the Katlehong Police Station, Capt Mega Ndobe, said the police were conducting their normal stop and search operations when they received a tip off.

“According to the information received by the police, the vehicle was at Khumalo Section in Katlehong.

“The police followed a tracker signal which led them to the white GWM bakkie that had been reported stolen in Alberton, earlier this month,” said Ndobe.

He said the suspect was found inside the vehicle.

“He noticed that the police were coming towards him and tried to run away, but the police were too fast for him. He was caught after taking a few steps and was arrested and detained at Katlehong Police Station,” Ndobe said.

He is expected to appear in Palm Ridge Court soon.

The investigation is continuing.
