Man arrested for break-in

Katlehong SAPS arrested a 28-year-old man at Thusong Informal Settlement for attempted burglary on March 24.

Communications officer at Katlehong Police Station, Capt Mega Ndobe, said the arrest was made at night.

“It is alleged that a suspect broke into a shack at Thusong informal settlement.

“It is not clear whether the complainant was asleep during the incident.

“The suspect was apprehended inside the shack before he could commit any further crime.

“The community members informed the police.

“The police went to the scene and a case of housebreaking with intent to commit unknown crime was registered against the 28-year-old suspect,” said Ndobe.

Ndobe thanked the community members of Thusong informal settlement for not taking the law into their own hands.

“I would like more people to emulate what the community members of Thusong informal settlement did. Mob justice is not the answer. Because if you practise it, you are equally at fault,” Ndobe said.

“The suspect was then arrested and is expected to appear at Palm Ridge Court very soon,” said Ndobe.

Investigation is continuing.
