Alaska FC prepares for the new season

“We planned very well for this game, my boys implemented it very well.

Alaska Football Club teams held pre-season friendlies on Sunday, February 5 at Vosloorus Sports Ground with an aim of preparing for the upcoming season.

Alaska FC under-11, u-13, u-15 as well u-17 teams from Vosloorus played against New Jack City Academy teams from Katlehong.

The game between Alaska FC u-11 versus New Jack City Academy u-11 ended 3-2 in favour of Alaska FC, while the u-13 game between Alaska FC ended 3-1 in favour of New Jack City Academy.

Alaska FC u-15 won by one goal to niland the u-17 game was also won by Alaska FC by one goal to nil.

A game that attracted the eyes of most of the supporters was the u-13 game which was won by visiting side.

According to New Jack City Academy coach Zakhele Maseko everything went according to plan.

“We planned very well for this game, my boys implemented it very well.

“We are preparing for the league (Gauteng Provincial SAFA League). When the first game of the league starts we will be very ready,” said Maseko.

The goals for the visiting side were scored by Njabulo Sibanyoni from a penalty spot. The second one was scored by Siyanda Khumalo while the third one was converted by Sihle Masiteng towards the last minutes of the game.

The only goal of the game for Alaska FC was scored by the star striker Neo Mpudi during the first half.

Joseph Masekwameng of Alaska FC said they want to close the gap between the academies and the teams.

“There is a huge gap between academies and the teams so we wanted to compare what they do right that we as that we as the teams do wrong. In the next five years we want to close that gap,” said Masekwameng.

Masekwameng also said he would highly appreciate it if parents can give them the kind of support they need as teams.

“These games were just preseason friendly games with an aim of preparing for the league that we are playing in (Ekurhuleni SAFA League).

According to Neo Mpudi the player of Alaska FC u-13, the results are not the true reflection of the game.

“We played very well but unfortunately we failed to convert all the chances we created. I feel excited by scoring this goal as it will boost my confidence going forward.

“Teams must watch out for Alaska as we will cause a lot of upset to most of the teams that we will play against,” said Mpudi.
