Ministry hands out food parcels

Bishop Israel Makamu celebrated his birthday by giving back to the community.

Bishop Israel Makamu celebrated his birthday by giving back to the community.

Makamu, pastor and founder of Endless Hope Bible Church in Alberton, celebrated by giving back to the community of Mamsago, an informal settlement in the area of Alrode.

In the morning the bishop assembled the community in a tent where there was a live band, people were singing and dancing, and the bishop gave a word of encouragement to inspire the community. As part of the celebration he gave out blankets and groceries to about 100 families in the community.

Every community member was given a loaf of bread, and meals and fruit were served to everyone.

The event was attended by many community members, which included members of the South African Police Service, the area’s ambulance service and the councillor of the area, Tiisetso Nketle.

“The community of Mamsago has never experienced this, you have put smiles on sad faces and encourage the lost souls” said a grateful Nketle.

Mirriam Nkosi, a young unemployed woman with three children, expressed her gratitude at receiving the food and blankets.

Two elderly community members were unable to make it to the assembly point, so the bishop went to their homes and has committed to buying groceries for these families monthly.

Later during the day the event continued at an orphanage home in the township of Katlehong called the Fountain of Love. The Bishop bought all the children in the home All Star sneakers, school shoes and school shirts and a donation of R10 000 was given in cash to the home.
