Suspects behind bars for possession of and dealing in drugs

Community tip-off leads to the arrest of two suspects.

Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit members arrested two alleged drug dealers for selling various types of drugs, such as dagga, nyaope and ntash, in Mosiliki section and Ndlanzi section on February 10.

The police received a tip-off from citizens who informed them about drug dealers said to be terrorising communities, especially the youth.

Katlehong SAPS corporate communications officer Const Sivenkosi Mtwa said they were conducting their usual routine patrols when they received information about people at two different houses selling drugs around 11am.

The Katlehong Crime Prevention team seized dagga and money from two alleged drug dealers on February 10.

Crime prevention members acted swiftly by assigning two undercover cops who proceeded to the addresses and arrested two suspects.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Albertina Vesi commended the community for bringing the perpetrators before the law.

She also commended the dedicated crime prevention members who did not turn a blind eye after receiving such information and not accepting bribes from criminals.

“We also encourage other community members to follow suit by informing police about any criminal activity taking place within their communities,” said Vesi.
