Two arrested after EMPD seize stolen vehicles

Specialised EMPD unit tracks pounce on two men in Leondale and Dawn Park.

Based on intelligence collected, the EMPD Specialised Task Team, working in two groups, pounced on two houses simultaneously in Leondale and Dawn Park at 5am on Wednesday.

They arrested two men and seized suspicious items.

In the Dawn Park area, a 25-year-old fugitive wanted by the Katlehong SAPS on charges of pointing of a firearm, possession of house break-in implements and house robbery, was reported.

He was found in possession of a white Toyota Etios Sprint, which was stolen in Boksburg in February.

He was taken to the Dawn Park Police Station and an additional charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle was added to his list of outstanding cases.

“He was marched to the Alberton Police Station and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a stolen police officer’s uniform (possibly impersonating an officer),” said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.

Both detainees are expected to appear in the Vosloorus and Palm Ridge magistrate’s courts soon.
