EMPD arrests wanted suspects

According to the EMPD’s media liaison officer, Kobedi Mokheseng, the operation was launched at midnight and continued throughout the day until 4pm.

In the early hours of Thursday, October 3, members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department’s (EMPD) Public Order Policing unit paid an early-morning visit to several SAPS police stations around Ekurhuleni, where they collected dockets containing information on wanted suspects.

 The police dockets contained information of suspects wanted for the following crimes:

• Absconded after criminal cases were opened against them or,

• Those who failed to appear in front of the magistrate’s court after being summoned by the a court.

During the raid, a total of 11 male suspects were traced and apprehended for a variety of crimes, including:

• armed and common robbery

• dealing in drugs

• theft

• assault GBH

• fraud

• malicious damage to property and

• contempt of court.

The suspects were between the ages of 28 and 48. They were detained before being handed over to Eden Park, Etwatwa, Katlehong, Tembisa, Rabie Ridge and Vosloorus police stations.

They are expected to appear in various magistrates’ courts soon.
