HHSDO receives donations from BMW Kathorus Club

BMW Kathorus Club hosted a charity event in collaboration with the Helping Hands Skills and Development Organisation (HHSDO) in Thokoza on July 13.

The event comprised an interactive programme that included speeches from the stakeholders and employees of the organisation.

Poetry was rendered by Dintle Sehula, one of the beneficiaries of the organisation.

The Centre for HIV-AIDS Prevention Studies (CHAPS) also sent their team to grace the occasion.

Free screening for chronic diseases was conducted.

BMW Kathorus Club made donations of grocery items which were received with gratitude by the centre.

BMW Kathorus Club chairman Raheim Mdakaand and deputy chair Mbongeni Sibeko delivered speeches, both emphasising the club’s mandate which is to support community projects.

The services offered by HHSDO are free of charge, ranging from after-school care to a variety of others. The organisation also adopt families in need.

Delivering her talk, founder and CEO of the organisation, Nthabiseng Mofokeng, said she started the foundation after she was diagnosed with a chronic illness.

“Instead of the illness overcoming me, I decided to open this non-profit organisation (NPO) which started with just one employee, and has grown, and continues to enjoy tremendous growth with 18 staff members,” said Mofokeng.

“As the BMW Kathorus Club we are always looking to give back to our local community of Kathorus through charitable work, “ said Keaboka Smith-Mphuti, the organisation’s public relations officer.
