Stop-and-search operations lead to arrests

Katlehong police arrest nine suspects through several different operations.

Katlehong police nabbed nine suspects during two days of operations.

The stop-and-search operations, held last Tuesday and Wednesday, were conducted by officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and the EMPD.

The accused were charged with several different offences.

Charges included:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 6

• Rape: 1

• Shoplifting: 1

• Malicious damage to property: 1.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Brig Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests and called for the community to report crimes in the area.
