Twenty-one suspects arrested in Katlehong over long weekend

Katlehong police share their weekend arrest statistics.

The Katlehong SAPS had a busy long weekend, arresting 21 suspects through various operations.

The operations were conducted by officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and the EMPD.

The accused were charged with several different offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, theft of a motor vehicle, contravening a court order, reckless and negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Brig Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests and called for the community to report crimes in the area, even if it is anonymously, to help in the fight against crime.

He further encouraged parents to keep their children safe during the school holidays.
