While delivering a package in Ramonokopi, in Katlehong, recently a Ram Hand To Hand Courier van was allegedly robbed.
“It is alleged that the delivery vehicle was in Ramokinopi delivering a parcel when six suspects, one armed with a firearm, approached and robbed the vehicle,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.
“It is further reported that the stolen items were loaded into a Volkswagen Polo before the suspects drove away.”

While officers were on patrol in Sontonga Road they spotted the vehicle.
“Police managed to stop the vehicle and a search was conducted,” said Ndobe.
“During the search cellphones and earphones stolen during the robbery were seized.
“The vehicle’s driver was arrested.”
Further investigation led police to a house in the Phake Section, in Katlehong, where a second suspect, allegedly found in possession of stolen cellphones, was arrested.
“The men, aged 45 and 49 years old respectively, were arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property,” said Ndobe.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo was impressed with the arrests made.
“This is a wonderful breakthrough by the team,” Thambo said.
The accused will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
Police are still searching for the remaining suspects.
