My husband was born in Thulasizwe in 1986 and has since married and relocated to Vosloorus with our family. Life now is much better than when he was growing up in Thulasizwe.
The people of this small and deprived community on the fringes of Kathorus have always been neglected, first by the apartheid government and now by their own black government under the African National Congress since 1994.

While our parents could not vote prior to the ANC government, today the community of Thulasizwe has been voting for the past 25 years for the governing party, yet their situation remains the same if not worse than what it was under apartheid.
I wish the ANC would now do something for these people. How can a community of more than 500 people still be living without running water and a proper sewerage system?
Not even the political parties that have been making noise about their election manifestos have bothered to deal with the problems of the people of Thulasizwe. After reading the article published in this newspaper a fortnight ago, I hope to see change for the community of Thulasizwe.
