One of the furious hostel dwellers, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he fears his life, said the incident left all hostel residents shocked.
“The worst part is that some of the injured people were innocent men and women who had absolutely nothing to do with the cause of the shooting,” he said.

Communications officer at Vosloorus SAPS Capt Piet Rossouw confirmed the shooting.
“I can confirm to you that there has been a shooting incident at the Nguni Hostel. The incident left three people dead and 11 others seriously injured,” said Rossouw.
He added that three cases of murder plus 11 attempted murder cases were registered at the station and were being investigated.
All injured people are receiving treatment at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital.

Kathorus MAIL had a short meeting with izinduna from the hostel but they were reluctant to comment as some of them were not present.
The reason for the shooting is currently unknown.
